investigates, controls, and prevents the spread of communicable diseases in Ventura County. The CD office receives Confidential Morbidity Reports (CMR) from laboratories and health care providers for more than 85\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Programs\/CID\/DCDC\/Pages\/Reportable-Disease-and-Conditions.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"PR\" data-uw-original-href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Programs\/CID\/DCDC\/Pages\/Reportable-Disease-and-Conditions.aspx\" aria-label=\"legally reportable diseases - open in a new tab\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"\">legally reportable diseases<\/a>. The one found in North America has not been associated with person-to-person. The strain identified in California is found in deer mice that live in rural and mountainous areas, usually at high altitudes. It is not found in house mice, rats, or squirrels.<\/p><\/li><li><p>VCPH is working closely with Environmental Health and State entities to monitor our wildlife populations for this disease and many
