exposure can cause serious long-term health and behavioral problems in children. While children can be exposed to lead in various ways, most exposure occurs when they put objects into their mouths while playing. Lead-based paint chips can be ingested or broken down into dust, which can then be inhaled or swallowed.<\/p><p>Lead is also found in soil, water, and certain imported items. Many children with lead poisoning show no initial symptoms, making early diagnosis and treatment difficult.
