Do-it-yourself kits are available at your local hardware store. However, these kits do not indicate whether the toys are safe. If you have any reason to suspect that your child has been exposed to lead, remove the toy from your child. The program offers free lead paint assessments and financial assistance for remediation. Lead-based paint is the primary source of childhood lead poisoning. HHVC integrates health and safety interventions, lead hazard control, and housing rehabilitation for property owners by efficiently coordinating resources to produce healthy homes.
